Ms. Kim began this studio at this location in 1993. She has arrived here after many years of progression through the dancing hierarchy. A long look back from a young child prodigy through the EWHA Women’s University of Korea Dance Major program to her current exalted Grand Dame stature.
The Washington Korean Dance Company is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve and promote trditional Korean Dance in the United States. Dance has been an integral part of Korean culture since their ancient times. The Company seeks to pass this heritage to future generations while educating them about the significance of this beautiful art form.
There are many styles that maybe perfected and practiced here. From slow and silky hand movements to traditional Korean folk dance with quick, lithe movements of the dancer. The Company regularly performs a number of unique dances throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Because of the talent of its members, the Washington Korean Dance Company is recognized as one of the leading Korean cultural organizations in the country.
The Company accepts students from all walks of life, starting with age seven years old until the senior ages are reached. Students learn from fifteen styles that range from the basics to the masterful complexities.
